If your life has been seriously lacking in rock operas, fear not; Jesus Christ Superstar is back and will be touring around North America this summer. Those starring in the show who are at least somewhat metal-related include Brandon Boyd of Incubus, who will be playing Judas, and Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols as King Herod. Other cast members include Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child) as Mary, JC Chasez of *NSYNC (yes, really) as Pontius Pilate, and Ben Forster, who scored the role of Jesus after winning a competition in England called Superstar.
Says Boyd:
“I am so thrilled to be a part of this amazing production! I grew up on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classics and never imagined I would be playing a role in one, let alone with such an incredibly diverse cast of players. Truly an honor!”
Says Rotten:
“I’m here to sing with the King of the Jews, who could ask for anything more?”
No one, Johnny Rotten. No one could ask for anything more. Except maybe to have Mel Gibson attached to the project for the sake of hilarity. We can think of one person that won’t be making it out. Dates for the tour are listed below:
