giraffe-tongue-orchestra-2016

Of all the collaborations and supergroups that came out in 2016, one of the most promising is Giraffe Tongue Orchestra. Alice in Chains vocalist William Duvall, Mastodon’s Brent Hinds and The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Benjamin Weinman made a fascinating trio (along with mention Thomas Pridgen on drums) and the band’s long-in-the-works album Broken Lineswas released this year. GTO were finally going to get to do their first-ever tour of the U.S. next week, but that all appears to be in question, as Hinds has broken his leg in a motorcycle accident.

There’s been no official word from the GTO camp, but the tour was to have kicked off on Tuesday (29) in Cambridge, MA. Hinds doesn’t appear up for traveling, at least from the message in the Instagram pic he posted oh his broken leg. At least he sort of has a sense of humor about the whole thing. If they really have to cancel the tour, that’s an issue, though, since Dillinger are in the middle of their farewell tour and Mastodon have an album coming out somewhere in the first half of next year. Factor in Alice In Chains’ touring schedule and getting them together for another week of dates is like a chess match. This is a breaking (heh) story, so we’ll update you as we hear more. Here’s the dates that are, at this point, still scheduled:

11/29 Boston, MA @ The Sinclair
12/01 New York, NY @ Gramercy Theatre
12/02 Philadelphia, PA @ Union Transfer
12/03 Chicago, IL @ Bottom Lounge
12/06 San Francisco, CA @ The Independent
12/07 Los Angeles, CA @ Teragram Ballroom
12/08 Seattle, WA @ Neumos
12/10 Detroit, MI @ Magic Stick
