Already the rock star people would most want to have a beer with, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl went from mere mortal to rock star immortality on Friday after breaking his leg at Gothenburg’s Ullevi stadium during the second song, then continuing to finish the set in a chair after being temporarily patched up. Say what you want about the band’s music, but that’s commitment. And while the band minus Grohl played a handful of covers, the singer returned for much of the set, leaving to get a cast on his leg, then coming back. Safe to say that anyone at the show is a Foo Fighters fan for life.
It was determined after the show that Grohl sustained at least one fracture from the fall that happened during “Monkey Wrench.” And as a result of his injuries, the band have canceled their next two performances, tonight (14) at the Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands and Tuesday (16) at the AFG Arena in Switzerland. They’ll be back in action for a two night stand at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 19 and 20, however.
