Back in June, Mastodon’s Brent Hinds revealed that he was working on a new group with The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ben Weinman, ex-MarsVoltadrummer Thomas Pridgen, and ex-Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery. Since then, nothing else has been revealed about this alternative metal nerd’s wet dream. However, in a recent (and lengthy) blog update discussing multiple projects, Weinman gave the following update on the supergroup:

“To all of you who have been asking me about my project with Brent Hinds, Eric Avery, and Thomas Pridgen, I will also be posting some song snippets in the coming weeks starting with a little something Eric Avery and I have been working on. Eric and I plan on locking ourselves in my studio for days without food or sunlight. I can’t believe the guy who wrote the “Mountain Song” bass line is gonna be sleeping on my floor.  I’m sure Brent and I will have some pretty serious sessions on tour in Nov. as well. We will keep you informed.”

Now it seems ssoo convenient that Mastodon and The Dillinger Escape Plan are touring together this Fall, along with Red Fang. Will we possibly get to hear some material from this supergroup while Hinds and Weinman are on the road together? However long we may have to wait, it will be interesting to hear what these four musicians will create together.
