Looks like all of those Mötley Crüe shows during their Final Tour are taking their toll. They’ve been playing almost every day since July with just a few breaks, with the finish line being December 31st. For a band as “seasoned” as Mötley Crüe, that’s a long time. All those shows add up, and it finally caught up with drummer Tommy Lee who had to sit out last night’s show in Buffalo, NY due to injury.

Said Tommy Lee to the crowd:

“I’m so fucking sorry. I woke up at 3am with tendonitis. I got a shot and the doctor’s like, ‘You need to chill the fuck out for a minute.’ So I just want to say I’m sorry, this shit just happens.”

His replacement was Glen Sobel of Alice Cooper, who pulled double duty last night, and posted an update about how it all went down:

“So today at 12:30pm I got a call from Motley Crüe management about me filling in for Tommy Lee who has a hurt wrist. After our Alice Cooper set, I rocked a set w/ Crue here in Buffalo, NY. It’s been an insane day of prep & making cheat sheets. I can’t describe what an honor its been to rock tonight with Vince, Mick, Nikki & Tommy who was handling some of the electronics and cueing me through the in ear monitors from side stage. No- I did not do the Cruecify drum solo. But I played with the guys for the finale of Home Sweet Home on the hydraulic stage by front of house.”

Tommy Lee and the rest of Mötley Crüe have just a few more shows before they’re off the road a bit for a break in November. Hopefully they can rest up enough for their final push in December.
