Of all the things that could have malfunctioned at Motley Crue’s last show ever last night, we’d have put our money on Mick Mars or Vince Neil, but it turns out that drummer Tommy Lee’s roller coaster drum kit, nicknamed the “Cruecifly, chose to stop working while Lee was in the middle of his last drum solo ever last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Midway through the set, the kit, which travels on a track out above the audience while Lee does his solo, stopped several minutes into the solo while the drummer was suspended upside down. The kit eventually got righted, thanks to several quick-acting stage crew, and Lee was able to climb down and finish the show. The show was being filmed for a forthcoming DVD, so it’ll be interesting to see how the malfunction makes it’s way into the finished product.
