Smashing Pumpkins (guess they dropped the “The”) have a new album coming out, Monuments to an Elegy, on December 9th. And while it’s not the doom metal album they were teasing, they will be taking to the road in support of it. Although Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee played drums on the entire album, he’s busy with his other band, so he won’t be able to play. Fortunately, Brad Wilk, drummer of Rage Against the Machine and studio drummer for Black Sabbath’s 13, will be taking his place. Additionally, Killers bassist Mark Stoermer.

“We’re absolutely thrilled and humbled to have Brad and Mark helping us out with these shows,” said Corgan “and if our rehearsals are any indication they should be one-of-a-kind.” In addition to the tour, there will be a performance on December 10th on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which will be four days before their performance at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas. The only other US date is on December 8th at Webster Hall in New York City.
