Heard of Alt-J? It’s ok if you haven’t, but they appear to like metal. The UK indie rock band’s third album, Relaxer, was released this past Friday, and they’ve been hitting the late night shows in the months leading up to it’s release. Already having performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the band hit Conan last night to perform the song “In Cold Blood.” None of the above is metal-worthy, but if you look not so carefully, you’ll notice that two of the band’s members are wearing metal shirts. Singer/guitarist Joe Newman is wearing a Killswitch Engage shirt, while drummer Gus Unger-Hamilton is repping Code Orange during their performance.
The band is decidedly not metal, so it’s anyone’s guess as to whether they’re ironically wearing the shirts, got gifted by Roadrunner for some reason, or are honestly fans of both bands. Regardless, it’s nice to see both bands represented on a late night show, even if it’s just in T-shirt form.
