Next to Guns N’ Roses, the reunion almost every metal, punk, hardcore or any heavy rock fan never thought would happen is the original lineup of the Misfits. Well… turns out 2016 is bringing us BOTH reunions.

Original Misfits members Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only, along with long-time guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, have announced they will be playing together for the first time in over 30 years for sets at Riot Fest’s Denver and Chicago editions (September 2-4 and September 16-18 respectively). In case you don’t believe this, both the Misfits and Danzig (who has long opposed every playing with Only again) confirmed the news via their respected Facebook accounts. It remains unclear who will be playing drums during this reunion, being dubbed “The Original MISFITS.”

The Misfits’ most recent incarnation has featured Only handling both bass and vocals. Meanwhile, Danzig has included special “Misfits” encores with Doyle on guitar during his past few tours. Still, the fact that Danzig and Only are finally willing to be in the same room with each other after so many years of bad blood (and lawsuits), let alone on the same stage, is extremely exciting.

Here’s hoping that more shows will be announced. But until then, tickets for Riot Fest can be purchased online.
