This past Wednesday, Metal Insider was extremely proud to present our second annual CMJ showcase. While last year’s (featuring Prong, Eminence and For Sleeping or Jumping) was an excellent start, this year’s showcase was even bigger and better. Taking place at Brooklyn’s Europa, Vattnet Viskar, Ramming Speed, Black Anvil and Byzantine played to an enthusiastic crowd consisting of music fans, radio stations from out of town, and other metal luminaries. Despite a last-minute cancellation, all in attendance were treated to a night of metal that included two of the five “Metal Bands You Have to See,” according to CMJ. And most of the crowd stuck around to the bitter end, as Byzantine played their first New York show in seven years. Metal Insider freelancer Maclyn Bean was there to capture the show.
