While we’re still awaiting official word on the status of jailed Nachtmystium frontman Blake Judd, one local journalist says that his charges have been upgraded to felony theft. “Looks like Blake Judd is facing felony theft charges now,” a tweet from Chicago Reader music writer Leor Halil says. “Cook County state’s attorney should have the next trial date this afternoon.” It should be noted that this isn’t official, and we’ve been unable to get an official comment from the Cook County courthouse, so until we’re told otherwise, Nachtmystium will still be headlining our CMJ Metal Insider showcase this coming Wednesday (10/16).
In other, more positive news, whether Nachtmystium is able to play our showcase or not, we’re still going to have a rager this coming Wednesday. Tickets are still available for the show, which will definitely feature Byzantine, Black Anvil, Ramming Speed and Vattnet Viskar. In fact, when CMJ themselves named 5 metal bands you “have to see” at the convention next week, both Black Anvil and Ramming Speed made the list. Personally, we’d throw Byzantine and Vattnet Viskar in there as well, but we’re a little biased.
