When a show gets cancelled, it typically happens before the doors open. However, that didn’t happen for Volbeat last night (3rd). The group have been extensively touring in support of their latest effort Rewind, Replay, Rebound, which was released in August, and things didn’t seem to go according to plan at the Ulster Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland. According to Setlist.FM, the band’s setlist looked something like this:

01) Pelvis on fire (half song)

*Intermission*

01) Pelvis on Fire (half song)

End of show

The group were halfway into their opening track with “Pelvis on Fire” when frontman Michael Poulsen and the rest of the band walked off the stage. After a short break, the band returned to the stage to try again but once again, they couldn’t complete the first song of the night.

Following their short performance, the band apologized via Facebook explaining their reason was a mix between Michael’s throat issues and the band running into a number of technical difficulties:

“We in Volbeat want to extend our most heartfelt apologies for having to cancel tonight’s show in Belfast. As many of you know, Michael has been having some throat issues and we ran into multiple technical issues on stage that prevented the band from being able to hear each other play. While he has mostly recovered his voice at this point, it was decided that had he continued to play the show this way he would have risked blowing out his voice again and having to cancel even more shows. We’re gutted that we weren’t able to perform for you tonight, but we will be back to reschedule the show as soon as we possibly can.”

Fans who attended last night’s show went to Twitter to share their thoughts on the band’s abrupt exit:
