Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen and Iced Earth guitarist/founder Jon Schaffer showed off their newfound friendship in Copenhagen, Denmark last week when the metal rockabilly frontman joined Iced Earth onstage. Now it looks like the two new buddies could make the journey from the stage to the studio.

Following the show in Copenhagen, Schaffer filmed a webisode with Poulsen. In addition to saying how honored he was to join the power metal group onstage, Poulsen revealed that he and Schaffer were planning to work together on a new project. “And hopefully can promise all the fans of Iced Earth and Volbeat that Jon and I can do some collaboration in the near future and bring something very special to the heavy metal environment,” Poulsen said before Schaffer “guaranteed” that a collaboration would happen.

What would a collaboration between the leaders of Volbeat and Iced Earth sound like? Well we might not know for a while, but Poulsen did prove that he can pull off singing power metal when he joined Iced Earth for a rendition of “Watching Over Me.” You can watch Iced Earth’s webisode featuring Schaffer and Poulsen talking about performing in Copenhagen and their potential collaboration above.
