Disgraced former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins was killed in a prison attack at HMP Wakefield, a high-security prison in northern England, on Saturday morning (11). The 48-year-old, who was serving a 29-year sentence for child sex offenses, reportedly had his throat slashed shortly after inmates were unlocked from their cells. According to the latest police statement, two suspects have been arrested in connection with his murder, reportedly at the ages of 25 and 43.
A statement from West Yorkshire Police said:
“Detectives have launched a murder investigation after the death of a man in HMP Wakefield. Officers were called by staff at the prison at 9.39am this morning (October 11) to reports of a serious assault on a prisoner. A man aged 48 was found with serious injuries. Despite medical attention he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two men aged 25 and 43 have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody.”
