A petition has surfaced on Change.org to have the prince of darkness knighted. Sir Ozzy Osbourne could become a reality if petition author Helen Maidiotis receives the support of the 5000 the fans that she needs (and the support has exceeded). Maidiotis feels that due to his contribution in music, both as a member of the legendary Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, Mr. Osbourne should receive the title of Sir.

The petition is addressed to the UK’s Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

Read the statement below:

“For five decades Mr Osbourne has entertained the world with his music. He has worked tirelessly in bringing us the very best in entertainment from the days as the original frontman for Black Sabbath in 1968, until the present day with his endless stamina, drive and commitment in the music business.” It continues, “He has won countless awards and accolades. He was the first to receive a star on the Birmingham Walk Of Stars – he was also honoured with a star along Hollywood Walk Of Fame. He had been asked by Buckingham Palace to play for them on two occasions: The Queen’s Golden Jubilee and at The Royal Variety Performance. His name is synonymous in the entertainment industry from the very young to the older generation.”

Who can argue with that? Let’s get on it people.
