According to new court documents obtained by Blabbermouth, the attorneys for Iced Earth guitarist Jon Schaffer have filed a motion to dismiss all charges against him for his involvement in the January 6 U.S Capitol Riot. The attorneys have raised the Speedy Trial Act, citing “no indictment or information has been filed within the time limit required,” as the act requires the government to file the information within 30 days of Schaffer’s arrest. The attorney’s urged, “the complaint must be dismissed.”

Based on the same documents, Schaffer remains in the Marion County, Indiana jail and is still awaiting to be extradited to Washington D.C. The guitarist is facing six federal charges against him including Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building.

Iced Earth and Demons & Wizards have both been removed from Century Media Records’ artists roster. Blind Guardian’s Hansi Kürsch has announced his departure from his collaboration with Schaffer on Demons & Wizards. Vocalist Stu Block and bassist Luke Appleton have both parted ways, as guitarist Jake Dreyer revealed he’s no longer involved with the group.
