Just twelve hours after Donald Trump publicly announced his candidacy for the 2016 presidential election, Michigan band I See Stars declares allegiance to ISIS. Errrr… well, not exactly. Sometime late last night somebody got ahold of their Facebook account and decided to have a little fun. While the exact motives behind the hack were unknown, there were a few posts and videos shared mentioning Islam and Muslims, with others being in a language I don’t recognize, and one asking “Who wants Page.” The band quickly got control of their account back and it looks like no permanent harm was done. The comments on the post turned out worse than the actual post, ranging from the typical “You’ve been hacked bro, lol,” to harmless memes, and the slightly more threatening/discriminatory.
The band released this statement soon after:
Hey everyone,
Earlier this evening up until 5min ago our page was hacked. This band has always been about spreading positive music to our fans and to see such negative propaganda posted on here was, to say the least, disturbing. We would like to apologize to anyone that came across any of these posts. We love you all for being understanding and promise that we are missing you all here in Michigan. We will be seeing you soon as there are many exciting things to come-Devin
