Gojira achieved a monumental milestone in their career by performing at the once-in-a-lifetime 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony on Friday (26th), and the metal world continues to celebrate their recognition. Despite controversy stemming from religious misinterpretations, the ceremony remains a hot topic. Now that the dust has settled, drummer Mario Duplantier and Gojira have taken to social media to express their gratitude for the overwhelming response to their performance.
Duplantier expressed:
“What a tremendous honor to be part of this ambitious and epic ceremony in Paris. I have to admit that headbanging in front of a billion people, hitting as hard as I could in a revolutionary scenery made of fire and blood, was a very gratifying experience! A big step for the metal community as well.”
Gojira shared the following message, along with a behind the scenes video on Instagram:
“We can’t believe what just happened… We are extremely grateful for being part of this Paris2024 Ceremony… Our gratitude goes to the people who invited us, giving us the opportunity to represent the Metal community we’ve been part of since 1996!
