French metal masters Gojira made history on Friday (26th)by performing at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, becoming the first metal band to ever play at the Olympic Games. Their macabre production, in collaboration with opera singer Marina Viotti, paid tribute to Marie Antoinette with a metal-opera mash-up that included a performance of the French revolutionary song “Ça ira.” While most clips are unable to be shared due to copyright issues, there’s a full clip from NBC Sports available to watch, with commentary at this location.
