Brian Warner, aka Marilyn Manson, has been laying low of late under the weight of several sexual assault allegations. The shock rocker has kept out of the public eye until he decided to appear at a listening party for Kanye West’s new album Donda on which Manson appears and has contributed to creatively. The appearance drew reaction from everywhere. One such reaction came from a person very close to the Manson controversy, Actress and singer Evan Rachel Wood. In February, 2021, Wood became the first to name Manson as her abuser, triggering an avalanche of allegations from many other women.
During a live performance at the Bourbon Room in Hollywood California on August 28th, Wood added a song to her set. A last minute addition according to her instagram post, she performed “You Get What You Give” by New Radicals’ whose lyrics include a mention of Manson calling him fake. Woods can be seen in the video posted below, reading the lyrics from her phone. In the caption on her Instagram post of the performance, Wood stated, “‘You get what you give’ – For my fellow survivors who got slapped in the face this week. I love you. Don’t give up.” She had apparently gotten word of Manson’s appearance minutes before going on stage.
Wood most well known for her role in HBO’s Westworld series, named Manson as her abuser this past February, claiming that the singer groomed her from a young age and horribly abused her. Manson is also facing four lawsuits filed against him alleging sexual assault, sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, human trafficking and unlawful imprisonment.
Manson maintains his innocence stating,
“Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how — and why — others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”
