David Ellefson breaks silence following Megadeth dismissal

Posted by on May 26, 2021

David Ellefson has broken his silence following his removal from Megadeth. Earlier this week, Dave Mustaine stated on the band’s social media expressing how Ellefson is no longer with the group after explicit content leaked online along with accusations of him grooming an alleged underage fan. Ellefson admitted having an interaction with a woman other than his wife but denies the grooming accusations, insisting that the woman in question has been a consenting adult throughout their exchanges.

Ellefson broke his silence to Rolling Stone with the following statement:

“Recently, a very private video was illegally posted on the internet and false allegations were made against me. The actions in the video were between two consenting adults and were recorded without my knowledge. I am working with Scottsdale Police Department in their investigation into charges regarding revenge pornography to be filed against the person who posted this video. Also, my lawyers are preparing a defamation lawsuit to be filed against this person. This person will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I am taking this time to be with my family. I wish my bandmates the best with their upcoming tour.”

Megadeth is hitting the road later this summer with Lamb of God, which is expected to be one of the biggest tours since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Metal Insider recently had a headbangers brawl, discussing who should replace Ellefson on the upcoming trek. Check it out here.
