Experimental metal group iwrestledabearonce are an eclectic bunch, and now they can add ‘soulful lead guitar’ to the vast range of styles that make up their music: Legendary shredder Steve Vai will be performing a guest solo on the track “Carnage Asada”, from their upcoming album Late for Nothing. The album will be their third, and will be the first to feature new vocalist Courtney LaPlante, who was added with only a days notice during last summer’s Vans Warped Tour after former vocalist Krysta Cameron left on pregnancy leave.

Says guitarist Steven Bradley about the new album:

“The entire album came together as a result of us wanting to do something different. We didn’t want to make another weird IWABO album or whatever people were expecting. We set out to make something different and better than anything we’ve ever released. It’s a more evolved version of the band. We explored new styles and genres as well – especially in terms of the more spacey, epic, and beautiful parts. It’s got the most melodic moments of our career as well as the heaviest.”

Sounds exciting. Fans of the band can see them on the All Stars Tour, which kicks off on July 19th and features bands such as Every Time I Die and Veil of Maya. Will Steve Vai make a surprise appearance at the festival? Not likely, but hey, crazier things have happened, right?

Late for Nothing will be available August 6 from Century Media Records.
