The first track release off the upcoming Scar the Martyr album is one drummer/bassist Joey Jordison. The song, “Blood Host,” was released to the public today via Revolver.
For the first single to be one that Jordison penned seems less than coincidental, since the side project was spawned by the Slipknot drummer, who announced in June he had recruited members Henry Derek on vocals, Jed Simon (Strapping Young Lad) and Kris Norris (Darkest Hour) on guitars and Chris Vrenna of Nine Inch Nails on keyboards, for the band. While Slipknot members like to get around with side projects, Jordison is using this adventure to expand his musicianship. Not only is he playing drums and bass, but is also dabbling in rhythm guitar on select album tracks. Whether or not that means the track will sound completely different or completely similar to Slipknot, we will let you decide. We are leaning towards the latter.
Scar the Martyr’s self-titled debut album is set to launch October 1 on Roadrunner Records and the band will join Danzig August 9th for their upcoming tour. Check out the song below:
