In just two short weeks, High on Fire will release their seventh album, Luminiferous. The first taste of the nine-track album, “The Black Plot,” was, in our opinion, the best song they’ve released since “Snakes for the Divine.” Now, via Entertainment Weekly, a second helping of Luminiferous has made its way out. Perfect for the overcast New York morning we’re having (and third straight day of rain), “The Sunless Years” is dark and foreboding, keeping with the album’s first track. Matt Pike’s voice seems to be slightly more melodic, even though it sounds like he gargles with whiskey and razor blades.
Luminiferous will be released on eOne Records on June 16th. You can preorder it or pick up both tracks you’ve heard here.
The band will go on a headlining tour starting on July 30th, with Pallbearer, Lucifer and Venomous Maximus as support. Here’s where you’ll be able to catch that:
