The Melvins are never one to rest on their laurels, or keep the same lineup for that matter. Now they’re returning with their first album as a quartet for the first time in four years. Hold it In will, as usual, feature King Buzzo and Dale Crover. However, they’ll be joined this time by two Butthole Surfers members, guitarist Paul Leary and bassist JD Pinkus. The four recorded the album in Los Angeles and Austin earlier this year, and it will be released on October 14th. Here’s what Buzzo had to say about it:
“Hold It In is a refreshing piece of fiction in a boring world of fact and bullsh*t,” said Osborne. “Paul is one of the best guitar players I have ever heard and Pinkus has an outside the box type of approach to both guitar and bass that you just have to let it ride. I can’t believe this actually happened. I’m thrilled.”
The band will be touring starting in October, with Pinkus joining Osborne and Crover for the tour. Tickets will be on sale this Friday at 10am local time.
