On October 14th Melvins will release their 24th (!) album, Hold It In. This time, King Buzzo and Dale Crover will be joined by Butthole Surfers’ Paul Leary and JD Pinkus. We’ve already gotten a chance to hear “Brass Cupcake,” and the band hare just released another song, the awesomely-titled “Sesame Street Meat,” via The Quietus. The track, which kicks off the album, hearkens back to their Atlantic Records era in the mid- ’90s, is sludgy and fun. Here’s what drummer Dale Crover says about the song:
This track is one of the first songs we recorded together. I love Jeff’s slinky little bass line that comes in around the third measure! Then the whole band kicks in and just crushes you like a bug! One of my faves! I can’t wait to play it live!
Hold It In will be released on October 14 on Ipecac Records.
