As 2024 draws to a close and 2025 approaches, we’re excited to present Metal Insider’s combined Top 10 Albums of 2024. With such a diverse collection of albums, featuring very few in common, here’s how we arrived at the final rankings: For Ranked #1, the album receives 10 points; Ranked #2 gets 9 points; Ranked #3 earns 8 points; Ranked #4 receives 7 points; Ranked #5 gets 6 points; Ranked #6 earns 5 points; Ranked #7 receives 4 points; Ranked #8 gets 3 points; Ranked #9 earns 2 points; and Ranked #10 gets 1 point. For albums featured in “No particular order” lists, each one automatically receives 5 points. If a list contains fewer than 10 albums, the same point system applies starting with Ranked #1 receiving 10 points and continuing downward.
If there are ties in points, the albums are ordered based on the submission time, earlier submissions receive bonus points. How does the Metal Insider Year-end list work? Well, you have to have contributed to Metal Insider between now and the site’s creation in December 2008. Everyone who has been part of the team, or still is, are welcome to contribute. While some challenges arose this year, we ultimately compiled ten very different and diverse lists, ensuring a truly eclectic year-end roundup. We thank our writers and contributors willing to participate in this year’s year-end round up! Taken from all lists: Jillian, Matt, Ian, Jordeana, Meryth, Lisa, Zenae, DJ Alex Kayne, Elise, and Chris. Also, don’t forget to check out our 10 Most Shocking moments of 2024 here.
