Decent selection of Jazz, Reggae, Rap, Hip-Hop, EDM, Classic Rock. Reasonable prices. This shop, with its thick wood displays, area carpet, and chandelier gives off a slight air of audiophile snobbery. I’ve been to this type of shop before, no big deal. Narrow and somewhat cramped, a long row of short bins. When an employee or an owner asks “What are you looking for?” as soon as you set foot in the door, that is most times an indication that they can’t be bothered with you. I am obviously a metal person with many silver rings, long hair and a motorcycle jacket. Owner/Employee: “What are you looking for?” Me: “Do you have any used Metal?”Owner/Employee: “No. The metal people come here early and snap it all up.” This means one thing. The “metal people” are the shop’s friends and get preference. Nothing wrong with that, I’ve seen it before, I’ve enjoyed my own preference at a few shops over the years. However in my opinion, record shops are supposed to exude a relatively relaxed, laid back atmosphere. Digging isn’t always a quick process. You should never be made to feel rushed, dismissed, or put on the spot. No metal in this store folks, and the wall was average. I will not be back.
