acdcLast night, everyone was shocked to learn that drummer Phil Rudd had been charged with attempting to hire a hit man to kill two men. While the details regarding the charges (which also included possession of cannabis and methamphetamine) are still merging, AC/DC has issued a brief statement regarding the matter.

While keeping it on the vague side, AC/DC has issued the following statement:

“We’ve only become aware of Phil’s arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock Or Bust and upcoming tour next year.”

Granted, the only real take away from this is that AC/DC’s first album in 6 years will be released as planned. However, if Rudd’s absence from the band’s recent video shoots and promo photo are any indicator, the drummer’s role in AC/DC may have already been in jeopardy well before these charges arose.
