Code Orange unleash surprisingly melodic “Bleeding in the Blur”

Posted by on January 5, 2017

In our interview last month with Code Orange, Jami Morgan and Reba Myers spoke about Forever, their forthcoming Roadrunner debut. Myers, specifically, spoke about singing on the album, which she does on one of it’s standout tracks, “Bleeding in the Blur”

Yeah, we have also always been doing that to a degree. We just, with this record, the same as with electronics, our skills are growing with that stuff as we go on, and there is still plenty of room to grow. We have found ways to hone it in so it doesn’t just feel like it is all over the map. Like this year, we are fitting it in, it is all just dark, and makes sense together. Clean singing, there are specific tracks that we have found ways to kind of mix that in with our regular.

While the first two songs the band have released from Forever are as heavy and dense as anything they’ve done throughout their career, “Bleeding in the Blur,” which debuted today on NPR, is quite the opposite. Surprisingly melodic, thanks to Myers’ taking lead, if this came out in the ’90s, it would be an alt-rock radio hit. It sounds a lot more like Adventures, the indie band that three quarters of the band also moonlight in. Code Orange will be hitting the road with Youth Code next week, and Forever will be out the day the tour starts. You can preorder it here, or get in on some colored vinyl and merch designs here. Check tour dates below the video.
