Paws, Pets & Metal is Metal Insider’s ongoing column on bands with pets, discovering who watches them on the road, and more. Get to know more about these metal furbabies. We caught up with The Fixer as they told us about their fluffy rescue dog, Gus, who enjoys a parody of the band’s song “Ghosts Will Talk.”
Tell us more about your pet(s) and their names?
We have a rescue dog, our little old man Gus. He will be 16 this year. We always get asked about his breed, but we really don’t know for sure. I just say fluffy!

Have you ever taken your pet on tour?
Gus doesn’t do particularly well on long car rides, so he cannot travel with us. We miss him very much and always take pictures with the other dogs we get to meet on tour.

Who looks after your pet while on the road?
Vic’s parents look after Gus while we are out on the road. I think he enjoys the sleepover with Gramma and Grampa.

What’s your pet’s favorite song or album?
We’d like to think our pup’s favourite song is a parody of our song Ghosts Will Talk. We often alter our lyrics to suit Gus, but the chorus of Ghosts Will Talk really fits him the best. “Gus will bark and we will listen.”

How did you introduce your pet to metal?
When Vic would go to work and have to leave Gus at home, he would put on our local campus and community radio station (LU Radio), which introduced Gus to metal, along with a very wide variety of music and sounds.

What animal charity means most to you?
Northern Critters in Need is an organization close to home that helps a lot of fur babies in need find foster and forever homes.
