Paws, Pets & Metal is Metal Insider’s newest column on bands with pets, discovering who watches them on the road, and more. Get to know more about these metal furbabies. We caught up with Whythre bassist Eric Close as his dog Harley got into metal by listening to Slayer on the road.

Tell us more about your pet(s) and their names?

Yo! I’m Eric Close and I play bass in Whythre. My dog’s name is Harley. He’s an apple head Chihuahua & has the coolest personality.

Have you ever taken your pet on tour?

I have not taken him on tour, would be pretty awesome though.

Who looks after your pet while on the road?

When I go out with my other projects. Steve Fournier watches my dog. The little pup loves the shit out of Steve’s family.

What’s your pet’s favorite song or album?

Does my dog love music? Whenever I’m In my studio he’ll lay out in his dog bed in the room and listen to what I’m doing. But after about an hour he starts getting pissed he wants to play. So not sure he likes music lol

How did you introduce your pet to metal?

Well, how did he start listening to metal?  It started with road trips! He would be chilling listening to Slayer when he was a pup.

What animal charity means most to you?

Animal charity Hmmm… The ones that pop up on tv. Super sad ones that last for 20 min with some sad, cheesy ass song playing in the background. The ones that show animals being abandoned or caged. Ya….Those! Take my money! Take my money!! Lol

Here is a pic. Same routine every morning:
