As we noted earlier today, on this day in 2010, metal lost one of its best vocalists ever, when Ronnie James Dio died. Here’s a rarity from the mid ’80s. In 1985, Westwood One syndicated a Dio concert that was recorded the previous year in Spokane, WA. It was distributed to radio stations nationwide and contained a custom Budweiser commercial sang by Dio that’s pretty much a straight cover of Holy Diver‘s “Rainbow in the Dark.” The cover was obviously never made available to the public, but thanks to the modern miracle of YouTube, it exists. We miss you, Ronnie.
