On this day four years ago, beloved singer and heavy metal icon Ronnie James Dio died of stomach cancer at age 67. Four years later and it’s still very strange and sad to think that will never hear Dio’s voice again. Still, his spirit in metal has endured since his passing from Dio’s Disciples to the recent all star tribute album This Is Your Life. In honor of the fourth anniversary of his death, we’ve posted a video of Dio performing “The Mob Rules” at his last live performance with Heaven & Hell on August 29, 2009 in Atlantic City, NJ. The video was created by Joe Siegler, webmaster of www.black-sabbath.com. The video is a testament to Dio’s prowess on stage even near the end of his life.
