Swedish heavy metal outfit Ambush have released their long-awaited fourth album, Evil In All Dimensions, today (5) via Napalm Records. Packed with unrelenting energy, the record gives a resurgence to traditional heavy metal. To celebrate the release, Ambush’s Osker Jakobsson has teamed up with Metal Insider to share his top 5 NWOTHM (New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal) bands to look out for.
With reservations for what the mentioned bands want to call themselves with regards to genre, and also a note that we support all bands that play heavy metal with passion: Here’s a list of 5 bands that people should give a listen to!
Century
A Swedish band that plays straight forward and honest heavy metal with low key but genius melodies, and their aesthetics are in line with the music. All Ambush guys are fans and they deserve a lot more attention!
Wytch Hazel
A band from England that has some very creative songwriting. Well worth a listen if you like mid tempo rock with good harmonies and good vibes. I especially recommend their album ”Pentecost”
Blizzard Hunter
A energetic band from Peru with the right attitude! Great aggressive vocals and riffing all over!
Armory
Full on but yet original speed metal from Hisingen, Sweden. Think of Razor or Agent Steel with a punk attitude and insane inhale high pitch screams. This band is pure passion and they’ve been working hard fighting for metal right from their start!
Spasms
A new mysterious band from the forests south of our hometown. They just released a demo named Invocatio I, and give me vibes of Venom and Mercyful Fate with great vocals and raw riffing. This has been spinning a lot lately and I can’t wait for them to release a full length!
