The lineup to the New England Metal & Hardcore festival has been officially confirmed, and may surprise a few people. Usually a two day festival, the NEMHF has extended to three days, taking place on April 14, 15 and 16, and will once again return to The Palladium Theatre in Worcester, MA.
Headlining the first day (April 14) will be Attack Attack! and will feature appearances from Vanna and MyChildren MyBride. The second day (April 15) will be headlined by recently reunited Biohazard, along with appearances from Bury Your Dead and Terror. The third and final day (April 16) will feature headliners Hatebreed along with Between The Buried And Me, Job For A Cowboy, and The Ocean.
To be honest, I was planning to avoid the first day once seeing Attack Attack! on the bill, while the rest of the first day’s bill hasn’t persuaded me to change my mind. The second day isn’t necessarily bad, but the only thing that seems special about it is Biohazard (unless you’re excited about Bury Your Dead reuniting with their original singer). The third day sticks out the most, with BTBAM and The Ocean making it the most exciting. But compared to the last two years, this lineup may be a little more underwhelming at first glance. Either way, it’ll still be a fun weekend with some awesome performances. Plus, it’s usually a good chance that you’ll discover a handful of awesome bands for the first time. That’s how I discovered Skeletonwitch last year (who will be playing the festival for the second time in a row on the third day). And as our bros at Metal Sucks pointed out, the days appear to be segregated out by genre, with screamo/deathcore on Thursday, hardcore on Friday and metal on Saturday.
