20 years ago, Vice Magazine launched in Montreal as Voice of Montreal. Two years later, they changed their name to Vice, then moved to New York City. Since then, to say it’s grown would be an understatement. Much more than just a magazine, it’s now an award-winning HBO documentary series, a television channel and a record label, along with a number of websites, including Noisey. In fact, just in August, A&E Networks purchased a 10% minority stake in the brandfor $250 million. With that kind of capital, you’d think they would know how to throw a party, and that’s exactly what they’re doing tonight in Brooklyn. Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner will be leading a house band with a ton of notable indie rockers and hip hop artists, but there will also be two supergroups for punk and metal. The metal all-star band includes Megadeth’s David Ellefson, Testament’s Alex Skolnick and Municipal Waste frontman Tony Foresta fronting the band, which will also include Acrassicauda, the former Iraqi band that was the subject of the 2007 documentary Heavy Metal in Baghdad. The punk lineup will include The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Benjamin Weinman, the Cro-Mags’ John Joseph, Damian Abraham of Fucked Up, OFF!’s Steven McDonald and Hisham Bharoocha of Black Dice. Other artists keep getting added as last minute additions, so it’ll be interesting to see who ultimately winds up appearing. Here’s who will be there, according to a photo that Zinner tweeted:
