Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Temnein guitarist Florian Frandidier as he’s been spending this time expanding his production skills.
What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
I’m working at home, as some of my professional tasks can be done online. However, this situation brings obviously more free time than usually so I’m taking this occasion to focus even more on music: write songs, expand my production skills, play much more bass and keyboards… And of course, I’m happy to have a lot of promotional work as Temnein’s new album is out now. Outside of music I’m mostly enjoying TV programs and reading books on my balcony, I’m quite lucky to have one!
Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?
Absolutely, I’m always listening to tons of music so it’s time to discover loads of new stuff and go back to albums I’ve missed on their release back then. These last weeks I’ve enjoyed the recent releases of Intronaut, Code Orange, Novelists FR, Svart Crown, Orbit Culture and Hypno5e. I’ve also re-discovered Sevendust’s “Next” and Meshuggah’s “I.” Outside Metal, I’ve discovered amazing stuff from Kaytranada, Lil Peep and The Midnight. About playlists, I’m using Spotify so I often check their editorial playlists: New Metal Tracks, Death Metal & Beyond, Metal Xplorer and many more. Nuclear Blast also launched their “Heavy Metal Lockdown” playlist with many great artists, from Metal titans to underground bands!
A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?
Mostly cake and dessert stuff, best food ever! I’m also trying new things there, but chocolate is in 90% of my dessert cooking haha!
In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
I’ve watched recently “Green Book” which was an astonishing movie! On TV shows, the recent Netflix’s uprisers: Ozark, Vikings, Blacklist, Jessica Jones and Afterlife (with the excellent Ricky Gervais)!
What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Enjoy life at home in all its possible ways: listen to music, watch movies and videos, read, play your favorite games as much as it please you… If you have a creative/artistic activity, take this time to expand it, but without putting too much pressure on yourself! Of course, stay safe and be healthy! I hope you will like our new album, infinite thanks to those who gave us incredible feedback on the two first singles! See you on the road as soon as possible!
