Metal By Numbers 6/27: The charts are traumatic

Posted by on June 27, 2018

Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

Vinnie Paul died this past weekend, as I’m sure you know by now. Naturally, you can expect a surge in Pantera and Hellyeah sales when the charts are released next week, as is the tragic norm when a revered musician passes from this world. That kind of ties into the top debut this week from Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. It’s been almost a year since the death of Chester Bennington, which followed shortly after the death of Chris Cornell, and Shinoda appears to have channeled his grief into his work with his appropriately titled debut solo album. It’s never fun or easy to write about the passing of rock/metal legends, but it is easy to remember them and the music that impacted people all over the world.
