Later this week, we’ll be bringing you Metal by Numbers, our weekly look at what heavy stuff sold this week. However, before then, we can tell you that Killswitch Engage had a pretty amazing week, getting the best-ever position of their career on Billboard‘s top-selling albums chart. Incarnate sold 33,000 copies, making it the #3 album in pure album sales and #6 overall with 35,000 (the other 2k were streaming and track-equivalent sales). The band’s last two albums, 2013’s Disarm the Descent and 2009’s self-titled album, both debuted at #7, with 48,000 and 58,000 respectively. So while the new album sold considerably less, album sales have dropped off significantly, and for this to have done as well as it has is a testament to the band’s fan base, marketing team and PR. In fact, not even the #1 album this week, Joe + Rory’s Hymns, sold 48,000 this week in pure album sales (it sold 44,000).
Stay tuned to find out how the rest of heavy music did later this week when we run Metal by Numbers.
