In news that will shock and surprise no one, Scott Stapp has admitted that he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs in the past year when he went on a Facebook rant stating that his bank accounts were frozen and when he texted his wife telling her that the CIA was behind Alcoholics Anonymous. We’d known he’d gotten  help, but he recently sat down for an interview with People where he opened up about his bizarre behavior last year:

“I had a psychotic break that was brought on by alcohol and drug abuse,” he says. “I was hallucinating. I drove around the United States for a month, following an angel that I saw on the hood of my car.”

“In my delusional thinking, I thought my family was involved in ISIS, and that millions of dollars had been taken from me to support terrorism,” he continues. “All of it was nonsense. I was out of my mind.”

Ya think? It was after his family was able to get him into a dual diagnostic facility where he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. His wife told the magazine that she knew something was going on, but couldn’t pinpoint what it was. Currently in intensive therapy, Stapp is taking medication for bipolar disorder, in a 12 step program and meeting with a sponsor.
