It will never be said that you’re not able to own Mastodon’s catalog on vinyl. They’ve been pretty involved with Record Store Day, with something out at least every year. Relapse has reissued the band’s first two albums, as well as the EP Call of the Mastodon, on vinyl. In fact, they’ve reissued Remission twice. Now, anyone that doesn’t already have the band’s Reprise catalog on vinyl, or only has it on boring old black vinyl, will be able to pick it up in colored vinyl starting in March.

The label will be reissuing the band’s catalog chronologically starting on March 3rd, as 2006’s Blood Mountain is released on yellow and transparent green vinyl. On June 2nd, 2009’s Crack the Skye will come out on “baby blue” vinyl. Wouldn’t “skye blue” vinyl make more sense? Oh well. At any rate,  on August 4th, The Hunter will come out on a mix of solid white and solid red vinyl. October 5th will be the release date for Once More ‘Round the Sun, which will be released on a mix of transparent green and solid white vinyl.

If you’re looking for the ultimate gift for the Mastodon vinyl fan in your life that hasn’t picked up any of those yet, December 8th will be the release date of a limited-edition box set with all of the albums, with only 500 made available.  In the meantime, if you liked the song “Atlanta,” that featured the band collaborating with the Butthole Surfers’ Gibby Haynes, then the band’s got a little something up their sleeves for Record Store Day. The song, previously only available digitally as part of Adult Swim’s singles series, will be released on April 18th for Record Store Day. the 12″ vinyl picture disc will have an instrumental version of the song as its b-side. So yeah, Mastodon’s got you covered vinyl-wise.
