Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Virginia’s alternative rockers House & Home as they’ve been spending this time being productive and supporting bands.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

We’ve been trying to stay productive during the downtime. When we’re not recording demos and coming up with different content for the band, we’ve honestly been spending a lot of time playing video games and picking up different random skills. While we’re not grinding on NBA 2k or Final Fantasy, we hung a dartboard in our house and have been having a lot of fun practicing that.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

We’ve had a lot of friends putting out music during quarantine. Our friends in Suntitle have put out new music that we’ve been playing non-stop, along with Makeshift who put out an EP a few weeks ago as well. Young Culture’s new song has been on repeat as well, and at the time we’re writing this Rich People is putting out a song tomorrow, and we’re waiting for the new Keep Flying live record to drop also. There’s a ton of really talented people that are putting out new music that’s helping us get through quarantine.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

We just got an air fryer in the house, so we’ve been making a lot of chicken wings and trying different sauces, which has been a lot of fun.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

Matt has been playing Fortnite and NBA 2k, Pat is trying to 100% Breath of the Wild, and Joey has been playing a lot of Final Fantasy. Other than that, we’ve been watching a lot of “Dave”, and also are watching all of the Lord of the Rings movies.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

All of your favorite bands are in the same boat right now, and they all want nothing more than to get out on the road and play for you. It’s more important now than ever to support the artists you like and share the content they’re putting out. Isolation can be really tough, but we really do think shows and the music community in general will be better than it ever was once all this is over.
