We are happy to say that it looks like the moment has finally arrived. Tool will release a new album sometime in 2018. Drummer Danny Carey confirmed this information while speaking on the Metal Sucks podcast about his Legend of the Seagullmen project. He was asked about Tool’s new album and expressed that it will arrive in 2018.

Read the conversation below (transcribed by ThePrp):

“My co-host Brandon talked to Justin Chancellor earlier this year. Justin made us feel like Tool would have a new album out in 2018. On a scale of 1-10, how much did Justin lie to us?

Carey: “He did not lie to you. On scale of how much he lied, it would be zero. It’ll be out. It’ll be out in 2018.”

It wasn’t too long ago when bassist Justin Chancellor said they were 90% finished with the new LP. However, Maynard James Keenan did explain why it’s taking them over 10,000 days to complete it. With all of the speculations, signs, and hints we’ve encountered including the group re-recording a new version of “Opiate” as well as their albums rumored to be remastered for a vinyl release, there is one clue that has us convinced 2018 is their year. The group are headlining 2018’s Rock on The Range, and we can only hope that this is a sign that they will play new tunes. However, we shouldn’t rush out the door to get a personal Tool tattoo on our butts just yet. Only time will tell, and you can check out the entire podcast below:
