chicagoopenairIn many ways, Chicago is the birthplace of industrial. The Wax Trax record store eventually became a label, with bands like Ministry, Front 242 and KMFDM getting discovered and released by the label. So it’s fitting that Rammstein’s return to America will be at the Chicago Open Air Fest, who just officially confirmed them as one of the headlining acts for the festival, which will take place July 15, 16 and 17 in Chicago suburb Bridgeview, IL. The press release says that it’s going to be the band’s only US performance this year, which is a bummer for the rest of America. Considering how quickly their Madison Square Garden festival sold out and the fact that people traveled from around the world to see it suggests that there will plenty of people headed to Chicago.

It’s not known what day they’ll be headlining, or who the other headliners are, but they’ll be announcing more acts on February 16th. However, you can pick up early bird three-day weekend General Admisttion tickets for $199.50 (field) and $109.50 (bowl) via the Festival’s web site.
