Of all the things you’d expect to hear from the lead singer at a concert, being accused of stealing their house isn’t one of them. However, we’re talking about Puddle of Mudd here, so anything’s possible. This past Saturday (1/30) at a show in Marietta, Ohio, the band cut their sold-out show at the Adelphia Music Hall show short after beleaguered vocalist Wes Scantlin accused an audience member of stealing his house. No, not stealing something from his house, stealing his actual house. This is bizarre for several reasons. First of all, Scantlin lives in Hollywood, not Ohio. And also, Scantlin started the year off by breaking into his former house in Hollywood, being led away in handcuffs after breaking in and trashing some electronics inside with a hatchet. Here’s what Scantlin said, as transcribed by WQLZ:
“This mother f—er right here stole my mother f—ing house and now he’s standing right f—ing in front of me laughing at me. And he f—ing figures I’m a f—ing joke. This mother f—er right here. This mother f—er right here. Get his ass on camera. Right. Get his ass on camera. Get his ass on camera. This is the dog. Right here. This is the mother f—er right here. This guy stole my f—ing house.”
Scantlin then put on his jacket and left the stage. The Adelphia, for their part, apologized for Scantlin’s behavior, and offered all in attendance another ticket to the show of their choice. So basically, if you’re planning on seeing Puddle of Mudd anytime soon, you never know what you”ll get – maybe Wes Scantlin’s house.
