British rock masters Skunk Anansie have unveiled a video for their latest ingle “Shame.” The track is taken from their new album, The Painful Truth, out now via FLG Records. The deeply personal track serves as a cathartic moment for vocalist Skin, confronting her past through raw emotion and haunting visuals. Produced by David Sitek (TV on the Radio), The Painful Truth showcases marks their debut on FLG Records. The band is currently touring across Europe and the UK this summer. Tickets are available at this location.
Skin comments on the video:
“‘Shame’ is one of the most personal songs we’ve ever written. Many of us feel or get unconnected to our families because of the lives we need to lead in order to be happy; sometimes they just can’t understand who we are if we are not like them and there’s a lot of shame and hurt in that. ‘Shame’ is dedicated to those outcasts, to those kids that go on to find new families that support & love them, give them hope and help them find true contentment.”
On the album, Skin adds:
“When I really think about it, yes, we have made some good records in our time but it’s been a long time since we have made a great album. And that is the painful truth. Understanding that, led us to making what I genuinely think is our greatest record yet.”
