Seven (sic) things about Slipknot this week

01) Slipknot have fifteen songs that didn’t make the We Are Not Your Kind cut

While we’ve waited five years for Slipknot’s new album We Are Not Your Kind, there could be a chance to hear more material in the near future. Or, at least we hope that’s the case. Percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan has recently spoke to Kerrang and revealed there were at least fifteen songs that didn’t make the cut for the new record.

Crahan explained:

“Did we know that this was going to be the album? No. No-one knows. There’s another 15 songs that didn’t make the cut – there’s at least seven or eight songs that are recorded, with vocals, that did not make this album. There’s so much material, but all that material whittled this down to its anomaly, and to its presentation.”

Kerrang asked what’s going to happen to these songs as Crahan added:

“Usually you take your collection of records, and you make an album. So we have a bunch of records, and we have to basically decide which ones of those records can make up a thought process known as We Are Not Your Kind.”

Slipknot’s new album We Are Not Your Kind will be released on August 9th via Roadrunner Records. Pre-order the album here and check out the group’s No. 9 Iowa Whiskey
