After watching Refused play an excellent, sweaty sold-out show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, we were offered a chance to see them play a secret show at the intimate Saint Vitus Bar a few miles away. Taking the stage at 2, you never would’ve noticed that they’d just gotten off the stage about an hour and half earlier. They did enjoy themselves at the show, though, playing a handful of covers. Judas Priest’s “Freewheel Burning,” Black Flag’s “My War,” Fugazi’s “Bed For the Scraping” and this particularly excellent take on Black Sabbath’s “Fairies Wear Boots” were mixed in with a few new songs and of course, tracks from The Shape of Punk To Come.
