It’s not like Dan Patrick needs metal cred. The syndicated sports yakker and former ESPN host is doing fine for himself without it. But he’s repeatedly had on GWAR front-alien Oderus Urungus and Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta on his show, having had them record theme songs for “Wheel of Punishment” and “Stat of the Day,” respectively. Yesterday, he had both frontmen, who are currently on tour with each other, in the studio together. It was pretty cool to see a relatively normal-looking Jasta next to Oderus, who never looks relatively normal. And when talking about hosting Headbanger’s Ball, Jasta shouted out Napalm Death, Sick of It All and Cannibal Corpse, marking one of the first time those bands names have been uttered in morning drive time.
